Beautiful Summer wedding at Homewood Park, near Bath

There are so many stunning wedding venues around Bath, Wiltshire and Somerset, some of which we visit several times a year. This August Jamie discovered Homewood Park for the first time and was just blown away with the venue and a magical day, as he filmed Sarah and Matt's wedding.

Not only is the venue beautifully styled, but it has wonderful gardens and is set in a very peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby city of Bath. It was made even more spectacular thanks to the elements of Chinese wedding tradition that the happy couple kept as part of their special day. The tea ceremony was a particular highlight and it tasted amazing too!

The day was so memorable, not least for the friendliness of all the guests and especially Sarah and Matt, who were so friendly and considerate - it was just a joy to share their special day with them.

Directing films at Stonehenge

I love photographing and filming weddings, they are just such magical and memorable days - not only for the happy couple, but for me too!

Before I started filming and photographing weddings in 2010, my background was in documentary and promotional film production - for companies like National Trust and the German Tourist Office. I still produce and direct promotional films for various local and national companies and January 2015 saw a memorable film project for me at the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is one of our favourite places to visit as a family and this Christmas our 3 year old Oscar got his first LEGO® and we've not stopped playing with it since - so when I was asked by English Heritage Education and LEGO® Education to direct a film about their new Discovery Visit at Stonehenge, I was over the moon!

Did you know that we produce wedding videos?

Jamie and Jackie are best known as photographers, who work in a friendly and unobtrusive way to capture your special day in stunning images. However, Jamie's background is in film production, and he also produces beautiful wedding videos in Wiltshire, Bath and Somerset.



So what is Jamie's film background?
Jamie is a film producer with an international background, experience and award-winning talent. He has produced music videos for the likes of Ian Brown and Just Jack, and directs promotional films for companies locally and internationally, including the German Tourist Office, English Heritage and Wiltshire Council.

His documentaries have been screened at festivals, cinemas and picked up several film awards around the world.

When Jamie got married in 2010 he found that noone in the South West was producing high quality wedding videos, and certainly not at an affordable price. Since then he has produced stunning wedding videos with the same attention to detail and quality as he would any professional film production.

Discovering history and the Wiltshire landscape through film

As a film director, it’s really enjoyable to see your work on the big screen at festivals, or on tv, but for me there is something even more special about sharing your skills with young people and inspiring them to produce a film for the first time. The Virtual Landscapes project gave both the group of 11-14 year olds from Westbury and myself the opportunity to explore the local Wiltshire landscape and learn about our social history, as we visited the military badges carved into the chalk hills at Fovant, near Shaftesbury.

After a steep climb on a sunny Winters day, and with a few poor choices of footwear, we reached the badges and the summit of the Iron Age hill fort, having experienced the same conditions as the soldiers who created the badges exactly 100 years ago. Exploring the site with archaeologist Rachel Foster, supported by Youth Development Coordinator Sandra Samuel, and being chased by some friendly cows at the top of the slope, the history was brought to life for us all and the ideas for film and animation were starting to flow. 

In the following 8 weeks we had film, photography and animation workshop sessions, supported by the youth workers, at Westbury Youth Centre, with a total of 18 young people engaging in the project – the 5 core members all currently putting the finishing touches to their well-earned Bronze Arts Awards project folders.

One of the highlights for me was a photography workshop we did with the group of girls, who all wanted to wear moustaches, to look more like the soldiers that created the badges. They were all incredibly quick in picking up the technical skills of using the camera and studio light, and loved posing for the camera, creating a variety of different mouth shapes in each photo so that they could create their own cartoon characters and animate them to talk in subsequent sessions. They then put themselves in the shoes of the soldiers and produced some beautiful lyrics, imagining how they would feel – and the result is a wonderful combination of film, animation, poetry and history, which I can’t wait for you all to see (or for those of you that clicked the play button before reading the text, I hope you enjoyed it)!

It has been wonderful to lead this Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots project with Westbury Youth Centre and Wiltshire Council and I have a feeling there will be more films and animations to come out of Westbury in the near future, as there are some very talented and creative young people that now have the bug for film production!

These films were produced by young people at Westbury Youth Centre. The group visited the badges at Fovant, near Salisbury, with archaeologist Rachel Foster, to learn about the history of the location, climb to the top of the Iron Age hillfort and experience the badges from close-up.

Virtual Landscapes is a Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots project, initiated and funded by Wiltshire Council and coordinated by Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival. The film was produced and developed at workshop sessions at Westbury Youth Centre, supported by Youth Development workers. and mentored by director Jamie McDine.

The young people that produced this film are also completing their Bronze Art Award as a result of this project.

We are professional film producers

Not only do we produce beautiful wedding videos, but we continue to work professionally within film production. This Summer Jamie produced a promotional film for government organisation, the UK-German Connection, to promote and highlight the work they do in bringing young people from both nations together, and how schools, individuals and organisations can get involved. The film was also produced to celebrate their 5th birthday as an organisation! You can watch the film here:



In May, Jamie was commissioned by the National Trust to produce a series of films at the home of photography - the stunning Lacock Abbey and Fox Talbot Museum, in Lacock, Wiltshire. The films document the photography festival that took place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 2010. This film shows a variety of the activities and fun family events that took part over the course of the weekend, including: historic interpreters playing the parts of Fox Talbot and his family and friends; historic photographs made by Richard Cynan-Jones using early processes; digital pinhole photography and much more! The films are available to view in the digital gallery at the Fox Talbot Museum and are enjoyed by a large number of visitors on a daily basis.



Jamie's film talents also span the fields of music video production, where he has worked with the likes of Just Jack and Ian Brown. He has also worked with the German band 'Begbie' who have just released their debut album "The Age of Golden Lies". The band recorded the soundtrack to Jamie's critically acclaimed documentary "Blauweiss" in 2007, and this is the music video to the film's title track "Blue and White", released on the Heartdisco label.

Christian and Beth's Wedding Video Online!

Christian and Beth received their DVDs in the post yesterday and I received the nicest message from them last night, and hopefully they won't mind me sharing it: "Beth and I have just watched the DVD, marvellous, fantastic, blew us away and reduced us to tears... thankyou, thankyou, thankyou."

I must admit that just watching their wedding film brings back the emotions of the day for me, of true love, happiness, family and a real sense of humour, and I was only producing the film! So I'm delighted always to hear that the happy couple love the film as much as I do and it helps them to relive and enjoy their day over and over again.

Mark and Kristy's Wedding Video

Mark and Kristy got married in the beautiful Priston Mill, near Bath in April 2010. For their wedding video, they had the full version of their vows, as well as the highlights of their day. This was all put on to DVD for them, all accessed via a simple but elegant menu, that they could watch on their TV or computer. We also provided them with a high quality internet compatible file (QuickTime H.264 LAN) of the highlights film, so they could add it to their Facebook pages, YouTube etc and therefore show friends and family around the world.
